CPRE training courses are offered worldwide by our recognized training providers

IREB-recognized training providers have committed themselves to providing training courses that are ideally suited in preparing participants for the CPRE examinations. A training course has a minimum duration of three days.

The benefits of a training course

Even though a training course is not a must, it is the most efficient way to prepare for the CPRE examination. Usually the examination (a multiple choice test) is taken immediately after completing a course, so the acquired knowledge is still fresh for the examination.

How to find a CPRE training provider?

There is a list of recognized training providers, grouped by delivery type (online or classroom), level and module.
To find a suitable training provider, please follow the menu to Training Providers.

Training dates and prices

Except for the in-house training courses (see above), dates and prices have to be requested from the training providers directly.

Related FAQs All FAQs
  • Are the subjects of a training adapted to new methods, e.g. to requirements engineering in an agile environment?

The training providers recognized by IREB have committed themselves to offer training courses that are aligned to the syllabi. However, the providers design their own courses and may add further aspects to the training content.

When looking e.g. for training on RE in an agile environment, you should look out for CPRE courses which address these particular topics.

  • Do I have to look for a training provider and a certification body if I’m interested in the CPRE certificate?

The concept of the CPRE certification follows the DIN EN ISO/IEC 17024:2012 standard, which stipulate the strict separation of training and certification, thus avoiding conflicts of interest. CPRE training providers and CPRE certification bodies are personally and organizationally independent organizations.
However, this does not mean that the person who wants to obtain the CPRE certificate must find both a provider of the training as well as a certification body that finally conducts the exam and issues the certificate.
Almost all CPRE training providers offer a full service:
Booking a training course covers the training itself and the organization of the exam, which is conducted by an independent certifier.
So the participant has exactly one contact for the complete CPRE certificate package.

  • Is it also possible to acquire the content of the CPRE Foundation Level training in a self-study?

Yes, it is possible. Ideally refer to both the CPRE Foundation Level syllabus and to the book Requirements Engineering Fundamentals.

Check out the practice examination to verify whether you are sufficiently well-prepared for the exam.

  • Must the CPRE exam be taken immediately after the training course?

The CPRE exam can be taken immediately after the training, but this is not essential. If the participant of the course does not feel confident to take the exam immediately he or she should consult the trainer if it may be better to sit for the certification at a later stage. This would allow more time to become familiar with the topics where the participant still has gaps and thus only sitting the exam when fully prepared.

For this reason for the Advanced Level exam there is a period of 12 months after having passed the multiple choice exam for the submission of the homework (written assignment). This gives the candidate the opportunity to gather further practical experience in the chosen topic which may be incorporated in the written work.

  • What does it mean: IREB and REQB join forces?

    What happens with REQB®?

REQB® will be integrated into IREB® and all REQB® members are welcome to become members of the IREB® organization. REQB® members may become members of the existing IREB® working groups and an International Development group, consisting of IR IREB® and REQB® members, will be established to further internationalize and grow certification in Requirements Engineering.

Which certification scheme will be continued?

There will be a single RE certification scheme, presented under the IREB® brand, based on the current IREB® CPRE certification scheme. Contents from the REQB® certifications will be integrated where appropriate.

    What certificates will be available?

After October 1st, 2017 only IREB® CPRE certificates will be issued.

What happens to my REQB® certificate? Does it remain fully valid?

All REQB certificates keep their validity.

    • Holders of the REQB® Foundation Level certificate may convert it free of charge into an IREB® CPRE Foundation Level certificate in order to follow the IREB® CPRE Advanced Level career path.
    • Holders of the REQB® Agile Practitioner certificate may convert it free of charge into an IREB® CPRE RE@Agile Primer certificate.
    • REQB® Advanced Level certificates will be accepted as one of the required prerequisites for the IREB® CPRE Expert Level.

Is it possible to apply for IREB® CPRE® certification with an REQB® certificate?

For the IREB® CPRE Expert Level, the REQB® Advanced Level certificate will be accepted as one of the required prerequisites.

Is it possible to register the REQB® certificate in the CPRE Registry of IREB®?

The following REQB® certificates can be registered after conversion to the corresponding IREB certificate:

    • REQB® Foundation Level certificate, as IREB CPRE Foundation Level certificate
    • REQB® Agile Pactitioner certificate, as IREB RE@Agile Primer certificate

Existing contracts between training providers and REQB® will be fulfilled by IREB®.

Who can I contact if I have questions about my old certificate?

Please send a mail to info@gasq.org

  • What does the training cost?

The training courses are individually designed by the Training Providers, so prices vary greatly depending on the details of the exact course on offer. Please request the prices directly from the Training Providers.

  • When I haven’t passed the exam is it possible to retake the exam or is it necessary to repeat the training?

A rerun of the training course before repeating the exam is not necessary.
The exam can be retaken at most twice without a waiting period. If you fail the exam for the third time you may only retake it one year after the third exam date at the earliest.
